Disability Rights Watch is a human rights organisation for persons with disabilities established in 2011 to advocate for the rights of persons with disabilities in Zambia and the region.
The organisation has undertaken strategic advocacy including through litigation and renders disability inclusion technical support to organisations of persons with disabilities (OPDs) and other state and non-state actors.
Since, 2014 the organisation has worked with core funding from the Norwegian government through NORAD and its disability partner organisations. The organisation works in areas of promoting disability rights using the Community Based Inclusive Development (CBID) model in partnership with other consortium partners. The organisation is part of the newly launched multi-year programme called Collective Action for Disability Rights (CADiR) which bring together all NORAD funded disability partners in Zambia. Under this project DRW is involved in actions across the thematic areas of Human Rights Advocacy, Inclusive Education and Inclusive Climate Action.
Position | Project Officer |
Job description | The officer will be responsible for the overall deliver of activities under the Collective Action for Disability Rights (CADiR) DRW contract. The officer shall lead project delivery, provide programme technical services including development and management of workplans, communications and monitoring, evaluation and learning activities.

Term | Full-time fixed contract (June 2025 to 31st May 2026) with possibility of extension. |
Reports to | The Programmes Coordinator |
Location | Based at the DRW National Secretariat in Lusaka with frequent travel to Chongwe District of Lusaka Province, Sinazongwe District of Southern Province and Chadiza District of Eastern Province and other assigned districts. |
Responsibilities/Principal Accountabilities | § Develop project workplans and activity schedules
§ Coordinate with DRW partners including government agencies such as the Zambia Agency for Persons with Disabilities and the Department of Social Welfare under the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services and the Ministry of Education an the Ministry of Environment and Green Economy in delivery of project activities as relevant. § Develop and roll out-training materials and capacity building resources relevant to the project § Ensure effective mechanisms for the provision of reasonable accommodation measures to persons with disabilities participating in project activities. § Ensure the project is on track and meets all critical timelines. § Produce activity, monthly, quarterly and annual progress reports covering both programmatic and technical updates. § Facilitate effective monitoring, evaluation and learning across all the project thematic areas. § Coordinate and implement all communication and advocacy activities in the organisaation. |
Qualifications | Applicants are expected to possess a minimum of a diploma in social work, project management, monitoring and evaluation or any other relevant qualification. Must have experience in managing communication and advocacy activities for the organisation. Knowledge in experience with persons with disabilities shall be an added advantage.

Experience and Skills | § The applicant should have demonstratable skills and experience in project delivery with at least 3 years work experience.
§ Experience working with and on donor funded projects is an added advantage § Ability to work with various government departments. § Strong analytical skills § Excellent oral and written communication skills § Must be computer literate and proficient in MS Office § Excellent interpersonal and public relation skills § Capacity in decision-making and problem-solving |
